2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs! Kings VS Devils!

Stanley Cup Playoffs Begin!
It Has Begun!

Who’d a thunk it, but the 8th seeded Kings and the 6th seeded Devils are going to the Stanley Cup Finals! Never has a team seeded lower than 5th won the Stanley Cup, so we are about to witness history.

Especially if the Kings win. They have never won the Cup, and this is only the 2nd time they’ve made it this far. The first was in 1993, lead by the Great One himself, Wayne Gretzky.

This time around, Dustin Brown and goalie Jonathan Quick lead the charge. Brown continues to dominate the opposition with an unrelenting forecheck, and Quick has some kind of force-field that doesn’t allow pucks to pass through. Brown has 16 points, 24 penalty minutes, and is plus-13 in 16 games. In the same amount of games, Quick has an astounding .946 SV% and 1.54 GAA. That’s better than his regular season numbers (which were .929 and 1.95, by the way. Dear God).

Kings Devils Stanley Cup 2012

The Devils, on the other hand, have won 3 out of their 4 Stanley Cup appearances. Their goaltender, Martin Brodeur, arguably the best goalie of all time (I said arguably folks!), has been playing like it’s 1995 again. He has a .923 SV% and 2.04 GAA, in 18 games, which are much better than his regular season numbers. He is Hansel: so hot right now.

And let’s not forget Kovalchuk and Parise, each with 18 and 14 points, respectively. Kovi has redeemed himself this season, and is finally showing the world what was squandered all those years in Atlanta (leading in playoff points, by the way). Parise, well, he’s just same old Parise. Throw in Zajac and rookie Adam Henrique, and you’ve got some serious offense.

So who do I think will win?

"Kings in 4, I predict."

To me, it’s a no-brainer. The Kings. In sports, you can never be sure about anything - someone always manages to come out of nowhere and surprise the world - but if anyone thinks the Kings are going to leave empty handed, they’re crazy.

The way they’ve been playing this post-season is unheard of. They are 14-2 so far, and I can’t see them racking up many more losses. Maybe just one, but I’m going all-in and predicting the Kings will win in 4 games.

The Devils have played surprisingly well this post-season, but these Kings are unstoppable. Quick will be the deciding factor. Remember that force field I mentioned? It’s going to be on full blast.

I could always be wrong, but, whatever.

What do you think? Will the Kings win it all, or will the Devils take home Lord Stanley? Sound off in the comments!
